Group of five girls from Mississauga, Ontario (Sanesha Hajiyanee(12), Alicia Khiyani (12), Rania Pirbhai(13), Samya Ali(13), Isbah Jamal(13)) performed this composition titled “The Storm” at the recently held National Jubilee Arts festival in Toronto. “The Storm”, resembling the sound and rhythms when an-all conquering king leads his followers through a storm and rejuvenates their winning spirit. They have dedicated this composition, expressing their love and devotion to our beloved Imam, who has led our community through adversity and hardships since 1957.

Although the exact origins of bucket drumming are unclear, street musicians have been around for many decades, and have always selected materials and made instruments from what was available in their immediate surroundings. Using ordinary plastic buckets, and recycled wood as drumsticks, that may seem to have no musical purpose these girls created something magical out of it. Hope you enjoy the performance. Diamond jubilee Mubarak to all the Ismailis brother and sisters around the world.
